IT & Quality Systems

Drawings stay confidential. Records stay traceable. Production keeps running.

Choun Yi runs daily production on ERP, PDM, virtualised servers and a backup system. Customer drawings and commercial information are protected by access control and backups; material, labour and inspection data are recorded for every work order; and production can be restored quickly if a system fails.

Six systems

The six systems behind our production

01

ERP — Enterprise Resource Planning

Data Systems Workflow ERP has been in use since 2017. Orders, material requirements, purchasing, work orders, inventory and costing all live in one system. Every work order records its progress, materials and labour from order intake to shipment, so delivery dates and costs are visible in real time.

  • Progress traceable from order to shipment
  • Material requirements and purchasing plans generated by the system
  • Delivery dates and costs visible in real time

CAD & PDM — Design and Drawing Management

Design work is done in SolidWorks CAD, and every drawing is stored centrally in SolidWorks PDM, which controls versions, approvals and access rights. A customer's drawings can only be opened by staff assigned to that project; every change is logged, the wrong revision cannot be used, and files never sit loose on individual PCs.

  • Access to customer drawings restricted per project
  • Full revision history — no wrong drawings on the floor
  • Files managed centrally, never loose on personal PCs

VMware Virtualised Servers

Core systems such as ERP and PDM run on a VMware ESXi virtualisation platform, separating the systems from the physical hardware. If hardware fails, a system can be restored or moved to another host quickly, keeping the server recovery time objective (RTO) to a minimum — shipments do not stop because one machine breaks.

  • Core systems managed and monitored centrally
  • Fast restore to another host after hardware failure
  • Less downtime, shipments maintained

NAS Backup System

System data and drawings are backed up automatically to a NAS on a fixed schedule, with multiple point-in-time versions retained. Whether the cause is accidental deletion, ransomware or hardware damage, customer drawings and production data can be rolled back to a chosen point in time, and the backup and restore process is checked regularly.

  • Scheduled automatic backups with multiple versions
  • Customer drawings and production data included
  • Restore to a chosen point in time

ISO 9001 Quality Management System

Our quality management system is certified by BSI to ISO 9001:2015 (first registered in 2010 and maintained since) for the manufacture of stamping parts and knives; information security is separately certified to ISO/IEC 27001. Incoming, in-process and outgoing inspections follow written procedures with records; measurement data is linked to production batches, so complete traceability records can be provided for customer audits.

  • Incoming, in-process and outgoing inspection procedures
  • Measurement data linked to batches for traceability
  • Complete records available for customer audits

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management System

Certification scope covers ERP system and server-room information security management, enforcing access control and risk prevention across our metal manufacturing operations.

  • Scope: ERP system and server room
  • Formalised access control and risk assessment
  • Audited annually by a third party

Data flow

From order to shipment, one connected data trail

Sales books the order; production planning schedules it in ERP and generates material requirements, from which purchasing places orders. The shop floor draws material and reports work against the work order, quality writes inspection data back to the same order, and shipping and costing close it out. PDM supplies drawings to every step, and the whole stack runs on virtualised servers with scheduled backups.

Data protection

How the drawings and information you give us are protected

01
NDA

NDAs signed on request; mandatory for defence and brand projects

02
Access control

Customer drawings live in PDM; only project staff can open them, and every open and edit is logged

03
Backup and restore

Drawings and production data are backed up to NAS on schedule, with multiple points in time retained for restore

04
Business continuity

Core systems are virtualised and can be restored quickly after hardware failure, so production and shipping do not stop for a single device fault
